Richard Stevens – GIFireE, MCMI MIFSM
I joined Oakleaf following 20 years’ experience within the fire industry.
Having joined Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service in 1998 as a retained firefighter covering his local community joined the Defence Fire & Rescue Service as a full time firefighter in 1999, during his 17 year career in the service Richard held a variety of role from senior instructor (fire safety) at the fire training school to heading up the exams and standards department overseeing all fire service examinations and practical assessments as well as monitoring instructor delivery and performance.
My last role in the fire service was based out of Royal Horse guards Parade in Whitehall London as the regional fire safety officer whereby he covered all MOD/Military property within the London district and Kent, carrying out fire risk assessments, project work, training and fire safety guidance.
I left the fire service as a station officer in 2016 to become the Fire Safety Manager at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, overseeing the new and exciting 50 million pound refurbishment of the open up project as well as keeping the 1000 members of staff and artists safe during the 3 year building project through training, advice and guidance.
My current role at Oakleaf is Head of Fire Risk Assessments and I look after a team of approx. 40 surveyors who carry out a range of tasks within the fire industry supporting the development and growth of the Fire Division, this incorporates driving sustainable growth, statutory compliance and governance, retention and development of our client base. Assist in growing the customer base so that the TRE positively contributes to the growth and financial performance of the business overall.
I lead the FRA service within the Fire Division, ensuring that the company culture and behaviours are always displayed and act as Project Manager with overall responsibility on large scale projects.
Within my role I attend and chair client pre-start meetings, and manage the work of other consultants.
I undertake report quality assurance prior to issuing to client and ensure all other surveyors in a quality assurance role meet the requirements of our BAFE accreditation.
Working collaboratively with other people across the other divisions to achieve TRE targets and present a seamless approach to clients and ensure the delivery of a professional and exceptional service to clients, this involves the quality Management and develop of the Fire Division and working with the principle leads who manage the team and projects on a daily basis.

Our consultants hold a range of professional accreditations, including membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
